Meteor May 23/06

Post by Sword_Gun »

Hey, Ive heard of of this Hocus Pocus, and rumours about a Meteor that is supposed to hit the earth on May 23 2006.

Does anyone know if this is real?
Like Where is it going to hit? and Should I be worried?
Will Handigo Push the Meteor Out of the way? (Handigo is Bomb/Laser made by a Company meant to Push a Meteor Out of the Earths Orbit.)
How Big will the Radius of the Impact be if the Meteor Hits the earth?

Thanks.

so far as i know there is no asteroid/meteor that is going to hit the earth with any significant effect, meteor showers are a fairly common occurence and mebe you are refering to a big meteor shower? and so called Planet Killer NEAs (near earth objects) are monitored very carefully to make sure they are not on a collision course, and if they are it woulod most likely take decades or more likely centuries to approach earth

yeah and if one comes all we gotta do is send two space shuttles up, drill a big hole, put a nuke in it, leave bruce willis up there to detonate it and fly home

Ok first, sorry but I have to answer your questions with a question. Where did you hear about this meteor?

The chances of know where a meteor is going to his is about as predictible as as lightning is.

It's been talked about for decades about how you can move something like a 6 mile wide asteroid out of the way so it wont hit Earth. Lasers will likely not work as the best a laser will do is cut or maybe melt the rock were they hit. And a nuclear explosion could, but then you have to tell NATO and the U.N. that your going to do that, we still have no nuclear weapons in space treaty.

The size of the impact depends on the size of the body, the material it's made of, how fast is it when it hits and at what angel was the strike. A lot of veribles to take into consideration.

There was an asteroid flew by in 2002, I think they said it would hit, but it didn't.

And the meteor came down right on Gamelver's house, thus casuing the second GCp explosion...

Well, so much for that being funny. :|

Eh, at least I'd die, too, making the pain of the GCp lost gone :P.....obviously, I would have bigger problems on my mind, like being crushed by a meteor and/or catching aflame and burning myself :|...

My school ends May 19, then a week of half days when we have exams.

So close!

But an asteroid coming close to hitting the Earth would be in all the news and such, wouldn't it?
