Another Mind Molester

Well I'm sure some of you have seen the Mind Molester on ThinkGeek for $25 US and most of you will have seen the one on Hack-A-Day thats around 50% less than what the Mind Molester retails for. Well Ive been wanting to get one for a whyle but I cannot justify spending $25 US on esentualy a Pezio, some resistors, a chip and some batery contacts (they don't even include a battery -.-;) so when the hack came around I was overjoyed... but I have no idea how to program in basic nor wanted to order a chip online, so I went looking and found my solution a LM555 Timer Chip, avalable at my local Source by CC for $4 CAD. Heres what I was able to make out of crap I found in my room, it totals to around $6 CAD.

And heres the back, ignore my totaly crap soldering skillz, I have to rewire many times to get it to work as I wanted it too.

So far it's working great, It sends out a resonably loud beep lasting around 1 second every 2 or so minutes. So far definatly worth it

Basicly it's for the sole purpose of pissing people off, because the burst is so short and at such a high pitch, it seems like the sound is comeing from everywhere and with the 2 minute break inbetween the bursts makes it almost imposible to find, after 10 to 20 minutes of beeping people get really freaking fed up, ive seen people tear a room appart trying to find one.

That's pretty cool... I have a spare 555, maybe I'll try this. I'm sure tweaking the resistor values a bit wouldn't do much...

Actually, the First resistor controlls how long the beep is, the second controlls the langth of the weight. R3 controls the volume of the pezio so you don't blow out your ears and the Cap doubles the time. A 100 uf cap makes it around 40 sec and half a second beep, 420 uf is 4 minutes of wait and 3 seconds of beep.

Any specific piezo? Any specific type of cap?

Not really lol, just a Piezo that I found at The Source, just make sure it can handle between 5-12V so you can run it off a 9v battery.

Well, after looking, it appears to be electrolytic, but does it honestly matter?

Believe it or not I had all the things needed for this one right in my drawer. Here's the finished product:
