My PS2

Cost question

My PS2 was messed up sense i bought it (got it a month or so back off ebay for $20) first it would act like there isnt a disc in the drive when thier is. I determined that problem, got the cable that was causing it, i think.

Now the thing wont power on. the red light comes on half the time, and when it does the drive wont open.

Would it be cheaper to buy a new one?

u should probably just get a new one, but u can always try to fix it. sounds like a fuse possibly (the PS2s have over a dozen fuses inside). but u never know with froint loaders, they love to break.

I think it may be the Reset/Eject cable. it looks pretty bad on the end that goes into the mobo.

That might cause that type of behavior.

What kind of cable is it? Ribbon cable should be an easy fix...

its flat wire, impossible to repair. I could get the part from a broken PS2 though.

well, you can always wire it yourself....nothing too complicated.
