I've begun working on my ps2 portable again, but I'm not sure what the minimum voltage is since I don't have a working one at the moment. I'm hoping that I can run it off of at least 11V, but I'm not sure if it'll work right.
Also, I might have to make a custom heatsink for it. I plan on trying to get one as thin as possible, but have it extend throughout most of the motherboard.
I'm slowly starting to get equipment to help me solder the leads for the laser. But I think I might have to make a custom soldering tip.

after looking through the past gamesx updates I noticed that there was this page listed at the bottom. I really wished that they listed this in the controller section. It helps a bit, but it doesn't matter much since I was going to keep the original button contacts anyways.

I'm finally at the point of designing the case where I have 2 different rough models.
One is a gba style case with the dvd drive on the back in the middle, while the other is a gb style case with the dvd drive on the top under the screen.
Each one has its advantages and disadvantages. The gba style has a lower center of gravity and has a sleaker design, but I then have to relocate the dvd drive, which is incredibally hard and I need to build a custom heatsink.
With the gb style case I don't need to relocate the dvd drive, and it uses the standard heatsink, but it doesn't have the same low center of gravity and isn't all that sleak.

I'd suggest the GB design. I know with the GBA you'd get the experiance of modding the dvd-rom and making the heat-sink. I just believe with a project its best to get the thing working quickly, then change it later.
Still its up to you, I wish you luck on finishing the project.
