x24's SNES Port.. help needed

anyone know what colors (on the wires going from the controller to the system) match up to which pin on the snes (on the mb)?

also after I removed the ac adaptor plug.. it left two holes.. anyone know which one is in..? this is the larger version SNES..

From what it looks like in the book it's the hole closest to the edge. You can double check to see if that's right by seeing if the large ground area on the board touches that contact.

ill try, I hope the large snes is the same setup as the small one.. batteries will be hooked up tomarrow

dosent the snes have a rectifier? meaning it dosent matter which way you hook it. (and the large ground area wont touch either of them).. if theres a rectifier. little black box with 4 pins. two of them connected to the power inputs, the other two connected to the regulator.

No, All SNESs have just a regulator in them, and a few I've seen contain a large filter capacitor, but no rectiifier is in the board itself, because the power adapter outputs 10 volts DIRECT CURRENT (DC).

Edit: I believe you're talking about the NES, which contains everything except the transformer inside the console.

acouple more quick questions..

Im usign a remote car battery for this..
which wire is it that I want to plug into the hole I mentioned above.. the red with the square or the black with the dome like shape..??

also curious.. how big of a heatsink do I need for the 7805?? I couldve swore I heard someone say (a long time ago) that a paperclip is big enough, but that sounds wierd..

woot!!!! battery is on and system is not fried.. had video on the tv while running it..

have a new issue tho.. somethings wrong with my controller.. has anyone had any problems hooking up a regular snes controller to the system before.. I have to say I thought Id try something alittle different then what the books says but I'm solding the wires from the controller onto the back on the control board so I can leave both slots open for controls if used on a tv.. anyway.. it doesnt seem to detect the controls while back there.. am I wasting my strength trying to do that or should it actually work?

i still havent found out much of the stuff from above either..

its probably that you have an issue with the controllor's ground try attaching another ground from it to the snes

sweetness.. both system and lcd are running off the battery now.. controller still doesnt work tho..

the green is where i added the wire.. is that what you mean? sorry if im being complicated..

EDIT: heres a pic of it going.. its really hard to see the screen with the flash..

thanks, there was definetly a happy dance after I saw the screen tunr on..

can someone answer my Qs tho:

how big of a heatsink would people recommend for the 7805..?

can anyone see why my controller doesnt work?

and 2 new 1s: can anyone recommend a method of bending the 7805 so its not sticking straight up..?

I had to extended a bunch of wires.. I soldere dthem together at some split ends on an angle like a website said.. but they still split after the slightest bit of movement.. can anyone recommend something else I could put on for support.. electrical tape doesnt seem to work..

For your 7805, I recommend one of these:

As for bending the regulator, just desolder it and put wires on it.

Edit: you can get those at Radio Shack, BTW.
