C64 DTV - no problems currently

Post by bioniclebert »

Im having problems connecting a keyboard to the DTV unit. Whenever I plug in the keyboard, the LED dims real low and the video either blurrs or cuts out.

Now I think this is a power dropping issue, but I tested it with 4 AAs and also with a 7.2V battery w/ a 7805. I've gotten a blurry version of the blue screen to come up, but I couldnt tell if any of the keys got pressed.

Its using a ps/2 keyboard, powered by a 7.2v 3000mAh battery with a 7805.

Thanks for any help!!

SIDE NOTE: the thing still works when I dont have the keyboard plugged in.

OK here's an update:

The thing powers off of USB as I expected. Now when I plug the keyboard in, the power drops slightly (almost not at all) but nothing else happens. The Blue screen still dosen't show up.

Got it fixed.

Problem- wires were in the wrong connections.
Fixed, and running BASIC.

(Please dont lock this, as It might be for updates.)

Second. Now that I have BASIC open, is there a way to load the games saved on the thing without turning it off?

ok, I've found a way to load the games.

Boot up the DTV and type in LOAD "$",1

then type in LIST

and a big list pops through. look at the names and remember them. If you dont remember any, or it's going too fast for you to see, just try
LOAD "WRESTLING"
and it will load the wrestling game on there. So thats it!

SO far i've booted

"SUMMERGAMES"
"WRESTLING"

hmm... It also seems you can load specific mini-events?
Try this: LOAD "WEIGHT" or LOAD "CLIFF"

Wait, where the heck did THAT come from? Was that some kind of easter egg?

EDIT:

WHAT? There's more??!?
Eww! What the heck is this?

Quoted from the thing "And yes, I am drinking a wild cherry pepsi right now. Hit it."

Am I supposed to understand this?

Oh at least one thing I get!

Wow Jeri put some geek phrase easter eggs in there. I'll have to look into trying that out after I dust off my DTV.

I like the how to make a page part. "This ain't block demo '04!" I also like the final music video part. That's sweet.
