I am not a huge anime fan either for about 4 reasons:
1. the only possible way to enjoy most of it is to watch the subtitled versions of the episodes, and unfortunatly I have very little patience when it comes to subtitles.
2. While I do not discount the medium or style itself as bad it has ever produced anything that has ever really interested me.
3. Getting your hands on the episodes legitimately is quite pricy ($25 for 5 episodes is a bit beyond my means)
4. Many serious fans have huge superiority complexes relating to other forms of entertainment. (no offense just a general observation that may or may not accurately represent the situation).
Thean again what do I know all I ever watch is History or Discovery Channel! (well that and A&E when there's a crime show on, and USA for the occasional Monk reruns, and Awww... heck I'm rambling mercilessly aren't I
)

Eh, I'm a light fan of anime. There are few shows I actually watch, but the ones I do, I enjoy very much.
I don't think it's at all fair to say all anime is good/bad. It's just another form of entertainment.
Either you like what you see or you don't. But that dosn't mean you should write that style off forever. I watched several shows before I foudn some I liked. that guys site is just dumb, thats all.

To true.... (uses other hand with Twiddler to tell everone on another forum why Nintendo Pwnz M$, and Sony iz the bl0wz)*As far as #4 goes, that can be applied to fanboys of anything.
-Faints-
Also, $25 for 5 episodes is usually cheap as far as anime goes Razz
*just kidding I'm not a big N fanboy, don't use L337, don't even post in any other forums, and only wish I owned a Twiddler.
Been a while since I last posted.
I used to hate anime when I was younger, because I didn't understand the huge eyes and wierd facial expressions. However, a few years ago I watched Cowboy Bebop on CN and have enjoyed anime since then.
But really, like someone else said at the beginning of the thread, you really have to DIG for the really perverted side of anime, whereas most other american medias shove it in right your face. Sexual overtones are subtle and portrayed so that only the older crowd will understand them. Also, profanity is more sparse than in American shows.
Just my grain of salt.

If all else fails, take it apart!
With the price the sell anime at I'm glad I didn't pay for Ghost in the Shell SAC series, not that I'm saying stealing is good, but at over $100 for 7 DVDs... NO!
There are some Anime that are worth the price you pay. Generally the pirated kind that have 8-9 episodes per disc and charge about $6 each disc. If anyone of you want to know a site you can get that from.... email me.
And about the whole fanatisim thing... I'm only that way when someone just attacked anime with a real stupid generalization. Like Gundam or that all anime is kiddy stuff like Pokemon/Digimon. I hate it when ignorate people attack something they know nothing about and support it with made up assumption.
