Can't you just use some Sound Blaster 16-compatible drivers? Almost all sound cards support that standard.

Probably because it doesn't recognize what file system (FAT32, NTFS, ext2 etc) your hard drive is formatted as.

I think my previous post has become lost under here. So meh, I'll quote it.

Sorry for the double post, but I've gotta rant this. I've installed everything that was listed earlier in the topic as "Required" for GAIM, and it still won't install. I go after what it asks for, for installation, and it keeps asking me to download more stuff to make that work so that the last thing would work just so the first thing I wanted to work would work. Argh! Why can't there just be one package, with everything I need in it, already there? Or does this go on forever, and I never get this to work? Come on! Seriously, someone guide me where to go just to get GAIM to work? First it was GTKspell, then it was aspell, then it was ispell, then it was libstdc++ then it was... GAR! This goes on forever. I need a comprehensive list of all programs necessary for the programs, for GAIM, and where the hell to get them. Because I am tired of looking all over, for every little component, that any sane person would've included with the original program as an option. >_>

Sorry if I've gone overboard with my rant, but some of this is just driving me crazy. >_<
