Really, it's because of the way that nintendo made the color screen able to be seen without having a backlight in the first place. Bibin could explain it better for you. My knowledge is really limited on the subject. All I know is that I frontlit it and it works. :D

hm but this guide if for the frontlit, i saw it

i was wanting a guide to make one like palmertech did with his gameboy pocket, using the nds backlit

i want to add light to the controller ports
i can put 4 serie leds with a resistor around 200 ohm
wouldn't be okay?
