but could I add a resistor to get a 7805 to work?

All radioshack has is a 7805 and this... if i cant use that, what would I do to the 7805

radioshack???(I dont mind buying more expensive crap from crapshack, because im only 14 so I can't really order stuff of of the intarweb)

I dont really want to take my slimmy apart, but I am wondering what I should do with the old ps2... try to find a replacement ribbon cable (the power and eject ribbon cable) or make it a portable... I would prefer buying a new ribbon cable but both are options...
