Re: Screen Modulization idea...maybe?
that's a great idea bacteria...I'm going to look into it, because of how much more ascetically pleasing and practical that would be. The only problem i could see is that it would be more expensive, which I personally would have no problem with. Off to the webz!

Re: Screen Modulization idea...maybe?
Ok, now i understand, that plug diagram is great, gives full potential for composite or component...that's really awesome.
Bacteria, would it be possible to clarify what you said about the magnets? I'm a little confused
BTW, I'm saving this pinout for future use
I guess the only thing left ...

Re: Screen Modulization idea...maybe?
While I think that serial would be the way to go, another thing I need to keep in mind is the actual measurements and placing of the plugs/magnets. I can see this becoming a nightmare if not everything lines up...still worth it, but it will take some extra work. Also, what advantages would be gained ...

Re: Screen Modulization idea...maybe?
i think I'm gonna try using a serial cable...sturdy quality, and it has plenty of pins...I just need to buy a Psone screen. AV seems like the format to go with, simply because every console uses it. I also gotta find some magnets.

Re: Screen Modulization idea...maybe?
thanks for the reply, and I would really appreciate your help and experience on this, however, the way I imagine this project working is that you would build your portable(s), all with their own batteries and controls built in, sans screen, with the female plug. They would be unplayable in this ...

First...I am sorry if I offended you, Bacteria, I meant absolutely nothing bad, and would like to clear that I have gone back, and read your website for clarification
Second, the magnets idea is genius  ...I'm really glad that this idea has potential, I thought it wouldn't work...the usb ...

Re: Screen Modulization idea...maybe?
allright, so this isn't completely crazy, and yes, very much like bacteria's project, except that the screen would be the moduale, and it would plug into multiple consoles. Also, do you perhaps have a drawing for your usb idea? that sounds really interesting, and i really want to know how it would ...

Screen Modulization idea...maybe?
This is an idea that i have been throwing around, mostly due to how much of a skinflint I am. Basically, whenever a new portable is made, you need to buy a new screen, the most expensive part :( . However, if you developed a standardized interface(between the screen and console) you could ...

Re: Cheapest screen possible...I'm pretty clueless
Price really isn't a huge hurdle for me...however, the actual NESClone I'm portabilizing cost me absolutely nothing, and putting a $60 screen on it sounds completely ridiculous. If there really aren't any available, please do post what you think the best screen I can get, for the best possible value ...

Cheapest screen possible...I'm pretty clueless
For starters, yes I have Ben's book. However the 2 screens he mentions and routinely uses are out of my price range for my latest project. So, I need a cheap, but also relativly small screen.
As always, your help is greatly appriciated
