I did clean the lense with alcohol and a Q-tip, I guess it's dieing...
Oh well, once I'll figure out how to load games from my external HD (question here) I won't be needing the lense. I hope.

The PS2 has a modchip which allows it to play backed-up games.
I don't know what kind of chip I've got in there...

I've followed this guide , formatted the HD and copied a game to it using the GUI version.
Now when I plug the USB into the PS2, nothing hapens. It doesn't load from it or showing me ...

I hope it's okay posting a technical question, it seems people here are very experienced.
I have a "fat" PS2. It reads all my backups of the original games from CDs, but not the original games (or their backups) on DVDs.
I have tried cleaning the lense and adjusting the cog ( tutorial ), but ...

Sweet... but I don't have an Xbox available right now.

As for the HD installation, I have the "fat" PS2, but it also has USB ports:
