Hey all, long time lurker short time poster. I have an SNES that has been in my family forever, and I want to be able to play it again, but it seems rather broken. Cosmetically, it looks fine. I have cleaned it using an official SNES cleaner from Nintendo which we happened to pick up back in the day ...

Try reassembling the thing and omitting the male USB plug.

Tried that WAYYYY back when I first disassembled it, omitting the LAN and USB plugs from the system, and just plugging in the video component. Still laggy boot-ups of 40-60s.

The USBs are now going to draw power unless you plug ...

Remove the fans? You can still use the same case. You'll have to probably file and snap out the plastic to improve ventilation.

The problem being, I think it is still drawing extra power, even if I clip off both fans. It's still drawing power to power all four USB ports (as a hub)... which is ...

Also, probably along the lines of tilting the 360 while it reads a disc (it will scratch the disc).

I think it's right to assume he means, will anything bad happen to the discs or to the wii if he orientates the drive so the slot faces upwards.

I honestly don't know... but it would be better to ...

I think you got confused. The HDD doesn't work right now using the wii. However if some hackers release an application which you can use the usb ports for storage, then it may be possible to use it ...

Thing is, we kept very good care of our games, and most have the "dust covers" -- the only ones that do not are ones that did not come with them when Nintendo phased them out. The games were kept in the basement for a while, though -- a few years. Maybe humidity got to them and corroded the contacts ...

Just dug out my old SNES to hopefully work on it, still debating whether or not to turn it into a portable or not.

However, when testing it, I noticed some of the games are glitching -- they all load fine but then proceed to glitch.

For instance, Super Metroid... I have a save game with ...
