Believe it or not, I was told that there are $200 mini ITX systems for sale at Wal-Mart as of late.... they're pretty low spec, but for $200 for a complete mini ITX computer it's worth the risk (and they can run XP).
It's known as the everex gPC, and it comes in this huge, ugly grey case.
Can't miss ...

I'm partial to the models with the fully adjustable speed controller.
I used to have a fixed speed and the model I was working on literally warped and fell apart cause of the sheer speed these things can run at.
(plus, I like running at 4kRPM)

eBay, my good man!
They run about $20 or so. a good number of the lower cost ones tend to be flaky, but they will be plenty good to pull data off of an old drive.
Also try pulling apart a portable hard drive, they tend to have 2.5" hard drives.

ooh, I have some spare dreamcasts and N64s... a translucent red N64 and a normal first-gen (open) dreamcast.
I should have some extra games and controllers, too.
Hit me up if interested.

-EDIT- I'd toss you both for the 3do... I've been wanting one, and need to trim down my herd.
