Nope, i found the box cutter was too hard to control, I cut the hole first very rough with a dremel cutting disc. I then went back with a grinding bit and took it as close to the lines i had drawn as possible. finaly i used a file to smoothe the rough edges. I plan on fitting a peace of plastic into ...

I used a couple of old floppy ide cables, i just soldered the stripped wires directly into the empty holes leftover from the socket. It's pretty eazy once you rip off the connector on the bottom of the board.

I used an Ide cable

@Doofus - thanks, the cart will load opposite the origional flap, the screen is in the way.

@G-force - yeah i glued the buttons on, it came out better than i thought, got the buttons from BGmicro real cheap (item # SWT1002)

i was thinking of doing that but my case is too thin to push the buttons back much further, i'd be intrested to see yours when you're done.

i'l write my shoping list-
busted nes - $5 (goodwill store)
third party PS1 lcd- $50
N64 console - $20
buttons - ~$10
nuts, bolts, glue- 10$

so probly about 100 bucks in the end.

what i did for the buttons was cut off the tops of the origionals and glue them to the cut down tips of the new bolt ...

i'm almost finished with my portable. it's a n64 built into a half an nes case. all i have to do is add L, R and cut the hole where the cart will slide in.origionaly i was gona combine the 2 systems, but i diden't have enough room.

Yeah thats what i ment. If no one comes up with something better i'm just do it. I'll post a few pictures when i'm done, probly next weekend at my current pace.

I am building a portable n64/NES combo into the top half of the origional nintendo case. i'm all but finished and i have one problem. the memory expansion pack does not fit into my skinny case! i was thinking of just soldering the module directly to the mobo, but i wanted your oppinions first ...
