I recently bought a Genesis 1 with no power cable. It has a somewhat uncommon rating (9VDC 1.2Am), and I could not find a perfect match in my house. I tried all the adapters that I could find and ended up with one from an Apple StyleWriter (9.5VDC 1.5Am). Will using this adapter cause any problems ...

What were the "crappy" games? Assuming there's no cartridge slot that you've hidden from us, you'd have to wire a card edge connector from the ROM chips (like on the Radica Genesises (Geneses?). One of the IC's has 28 pins and the other has 44, so I don't know how you'd do that other than deducing ...
