There are people that have done it but the supplies used are more expensive then buying an offical one...
If your looking to play games online then use a PC-DC connection, if your looking to make homebrew use a coders cable, if you absolutely need a bba then use ebay...

As far as I can tell it is GG hardware so it would be able to play GG and SMS games if someone were to open it and wire a cart slot. They go for around $20 which is nice for even the backlit screen.
