no the problem isn´t the open,closed wires I had soldered them together and the game cube would ve gon to the main menu, what do you mean by relocating psu and not putting the DVD drive in so far? thanks

no that does not seem to be the problem I have checked the dvd conection about 20 times right now,thanks anyway
