I think a great sub-forum would be a commissions section, where people like myself could come and leave an open request for something, and posters could come and see if there's a project they'd be willing to tackle.

So, I'm quite greenhorn at the DIY stuff, but I wanted to tackle a decent project, and my first thought was to make an N64 controller that'd work with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I got an N64 to GC adaptor, but I feel that the C-stick is sorely lacking.
