Maybe you can look for a broken SP on eBay or craigslist, because even if it has a cracked screen it will work, just as long as it is AGS-001, not AGS-001. Just adding the LED's is not even gonna be worth it if it even works, and I would suggest resorting to a wormlight (for like... $2) instead of ...

I do not have an answer to your question, but I feel that it is important that you know:
You CANNOT backlight a Gameboy Color. It just won't work. However, you may frontlight it (other than the AGS-001 GBASP, you are gonna have a tough time finding a frontlight, just sayin).

If by "gameboy screws" you mean triwing, then using a 1-2mm flathead screwdriver works just as well, just be gentle. I have been using one because my triwing went missing and I am really, REALLY, impatient
