so, you inspired me. i installed DOS on a bootable usb drive, and i have been running it on my EEE 701. its amazing. sound is nonexistant, and video was a pain, but it works. (luckily, since its a celeron, not an atom, its easier to make it work)

i havent stopped playing hammerfell yet. :mrgreen ...

Just bought myself Toshiba Libretto 100 off eBay. Going to test it out for MS-DOS and maybe FreeDOS also.... and also Windows 98SE.

Look on the EEE User Forums . There was a person there that got DOS running off a SDHC card on a EEE PC 701, and even got sound from the onboard chip to work under it. My guess is that the chip inside is old enough to be used in the early PCI sound cards that had DOS drivers, but I don't ...

I might test try netbooks since they now should be USB bootable. Many thanks for all your advice and links. Yes, it might be pricey. The tiny x86 fanless motherboards look cool. All just need is a Sound Blaster Pro/16 compatible chip... and whether the hardware bits/pieces/chips are MS-DOS 6.2 games compatible.

Cheers for the links guys. Again, Open-Pandora is a GP32X variant.. and is again based on the ARM processor. This looks cool like a mini-portable linux PC... but not a mini-portable x86 MS-DOS PC that ...
