You need a lcd controller that would work with that lcd, and if the controller only accepts 60hz rgb you will need a scan increasing circuit and maybe even a chroma decoder.
All in all, if you can even find a suitable controller that is, it should cost you around $400 to use a laptop screen ...

Size issues aside, is this possible? I've heard from various people that laptop lcds take entirely different protocols to normal ones, which would be too hard or expensive to convert. Can anyone here verify this or the opposite?

EDIT: The exact screen I'm thinking of using is one from a Dell ...
