Combining L and Z buttons

i was thinking of combining my left shoulder button with my Z button, do you think this is a good idea? is there any dissadvantages of doing this?

i will make a small switch to flick between the two,

has anyone allready done this?

Sure that would work fine. Zenloc did it with his N64Mini.
Umm... Not really any disadvantages, besides not being able to press L and Z at the same time. But heck I can barely remember pressing L anyways . Overall it's a good way to save space.
