Question about ring of light and xbox psu

Post by spukkie »

hello,

i got a question about the ring of the xbox 360 and the xbox 360 psu
how do you get the ring of light fully functional because im making a project and its looks nice to re-use
is it possible to use the xbox 360 psu for an ITX mainbord ?
because im making a xbox 360 pc case mod with a pc mainbord and stuff inside.
and no ATX fitted inside the xbox case and the wires from the ATX psu are looking nasty

anyone knows an answer ??

Amazing; I've found another!

Sorry, but I've been working on a "mini-ITX inside a 360" project for a while, so I had the same question. The best I can find, so far, is that you can hook up the power & ground from the main pins of the module and you'll be able to use the power switch. You must cut traces to the LEDs and wire them directly if you want to use them (otherwise, you'll get unpredictable activity from the ROL).

The pins to connect the RF Module to the 360 are very similar to a USB pinout, but the voltage is 3.3v instead of 5v; You could try stepping down the voltage and wire it to a USB port and see if you get anything, though.
