how to fix the 404 not found error!

Post by metalcookie »

when i was looking around on the n64 portable sticky, i was getting a lot of 404 not found errors. this was also common when searching through the forums at benheck. well, here's how to fix it!
when you get a 404 not found error, copy the link. here's the old link to SifuF's first portable
http://benheck.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=
here's how you get to the topic:
replace http://www.benheck.com/phpBB/ with http://forums.benheck.com/
here's the proper link:
http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php ... highlight=

i thought this was helpful for noobs, and anyone else that gets annoyed with this problem
this works for every 404 not found error on benheck forums with links that have phpBB in them

Go past the first page in the sticky and you'll see that everyone posted that, plus all of the fixed links.

Does everyone forget about the Greasemonkey script I released ages ago?

http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/38194

If you use Firefox with Greasemonkey (AND YOU SHOULD) then this'll fix ALL old links around the forums.

or we could ask the forums moderates nicely to implement a 301 redirect/mod rewrite htaccess file.
