uTorrent fowarding. (legal)

Post by Felino »

Okies, i first want to point out that what i am using bittorrent for is legal, i want the fedora install cds at some sort of speed.

Now, i have a netcomm wireless modem, that needs to have a bittorrent port fowarded. uTorrent seems to create one randomly, but what is the best one to use?

This is the interface.

And the create new rule.

But what do i put in for the port map exactly?

Why don't you just let it download off one of the HTTP or FTP mirrors overnight? I have 1.5 MB DSL and got Fedora 7 in about 5 hours. It's not like you're downloading off archive.org; a 2 gig MPEG-2 takes about that long from them.

If you want to use uTorrent, try setting a fairly wide port range, but for [diety]'s sake man don't leave them open longer than necessary.

Thanks!

My reason for using the torrent is just to conserve the server bandwidth i guess, i also wanted to see what the fuss was about. :P
