Was San Andreas a let down?

Post by xxxeagle »

Did you like San Andreas? I liked it and I think its a great game but i dont think it feels like the same grand theft auto that vice city and three felt like. Its a pretty good game but I think I was expecting it to be a little different.

I didnt care for it. Too much cussing and it was basically just another GTA game with more options. GTA III is the best in my opinion.
It really needed something cool and new to be a great game.

I thought it was good but it was way different than vice city and gtaIII but i think they should have made it better than they did becuase i dont feel like im playin gta really when i play it i feel like im playin gta with a little bit of a racing game and a little true crime (i hate true crime streets of L.A.).

It was fun and very large, but since "beating" the game (can't be a spoiler, by killing the Evil Sam Jackson cop) I haven't gone back to it much, whereas after beating Vice City (was probably April of '03) I still played it, usually at least once a week, for almost another year! When you "rule the city" it's fun to just jump in and cause havoc for a while.

I think the re-playability/free-range fun of GTA:SA is hindered by a few things:

1) The game is perhaps TOO big, with large, well-done but BORING areas in between (it takes FOREVER to drive to San Fierro from Los Santos!) So, just "playing around", it's almost like there's so many places to go it intimidates you from exploring.

2) The cops are WAY toughter in GTA:SA. I've got pretty much every weapon skill to Hitman (the highest) and it's still hard. And I haven't even had the National Guard after me yet! Is it just me, or does the difficulty of fighting the cops almost make you careful NOT to start trouble? That's a bad sign...

3) I still think the music selection isn't as good - it's a bad sign when I listen to K-Rose more than anything else. And the guns still sound like weak firecracker party pull-string poppers. Pistols are LOUD!

4) I'm only at 51% (insert political comment here :) What else can I DO????

Meh, would have been cooler if it was in england. Just cause those funny accents would be a riot in a game. (based on the movies ive watched; snatch, lock stock and two smoking barrels)

Play "The Getaway" if you want one of those England based games. I like San Andreas pretty much (mostly because of the jet-pack, and the parachute)

How about GTA London? Thats in U.K? And apparently GTA VI, the next in the series, will be based in england... according to a fairly reilable gaming mag.

GTA for game boy advance is in England. I think that game was only released in europe so far. It looks a lot like GTA1 or even more like GTA2 graphics wise though.

I don't know but England just doesn't seem like a fun place to drive. I remember GTA London for PC was so boring but I was really into the original GTA when it came out. A 3D reincarnation may do London justice though. I'd really like them to do a 70's one next though. It makes me think of Interstate '76. Maybe wait for the next-gen consoles though. I played GTA3 and Vice City on PC and the graphics are far improved over the PS2's but I still see areas of the game that are hampered because of the PS2's ram limitations. I would love it if vehicles stayed where you left them (at least until they were either stolen) and if you flip the car it doesn't blow up unless it's already damaged a lot. It's also annoying that moving cars disappear when they are out of your view. I've also always wanted usable gas stations in GTA but that would probably annoy a lot of people.

Well, aren't the GTA games made in England anyway? (like all GREAT games... cough cough BOND and PD)

The 70's would be cool - better music! Cruise around blowing up cars whilst listening to Abba, Fleetwood Mac and old Billy Joel - QUALITY! Oh yeah, and the Eagles.

Maybe they could do a Great Lakes one... have Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee and of course Port Washington!

Hey, this gives me an idea for a new thread! :)

GTA for advance was released in the U.S. it just wasn't a big hit are you sure it was in england I heard it was in New York like GTA3.

The 70s would be cool you could drive VW bus's and souped up cars it'd be pretty cool and i would like the music better.

Also I think they should make a GTA tokyo that would be awesome you could be fling around in import cars all over the city and you could rob electronics stores it would be so cool as a matter of fact im putting that one up on my site and dating it so that if they make one like that ill say that i had that idea first.
