See, Lenovo's on the right track.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/29/leno ... th-atom-n/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Multitouch? Yes.
x86? Yes. (In fact it's one of the new 32nm Pine Trail Atoms)
Full desktop OS? Yes. (Win7 Home Premium stock, will obviously run pretty much everything else with the correct drivers)
Reasonably priced? Yes. ($650 gets you a 250 gig HD and 2 gigs of RAM)
Dedicated graphics? No. (However the CPU comes with intelgrated GMA 3150 graphics. Nothing compared to a dedicated GPU but far ahead of the 950 and 500. Besides the whole CPU package has a 6w TDP.)
Supports Flash and any other program you want? Very yes.

See, Apple? That wasn't so hard. All you had to do was make a Macbook Mini... Hell you're already most of the way there with the Macbook Air. :wtf: We both know you know you could have done this instead of the iNewton.

I knew the 5GB cap idea was being pushed around, but can you provide a link where it says it actually happened?

I know for a fact that I use more than 5GB of data every month.

Bic, apple obviously wasn't going for a computer with this one, and that's exactly what that is. A netbook with a touchscreen. Apple was going for something a bit more scaled back, more similar to the ipod touch and iphone with the iphone os and the apps, and without a folding mechanism with a physical keyboard.

I'd rather have a computer and an ipad than a computer and that netbook tbh.

Netbooks are cheaper and do thousands of more tasks (at the same time!) when compared to the iTampon.

"A bit more scaled back", yeah. For the same price. That Lenovo will get you almost 10 times the storage space and far more flexibility than the 32 gig 3G-less iPad for only $50 more.

It's a loving overgrown, overpriced PDA. Nothing more. In my opinion it doesn't do enough to justify itself; if I wanted to just do 1 thing at a time I'd just get a normal size pocketable PDA/Smartphone. At least then I wouldn't need MC Hammer pants or a manpurse to carry the damn thing around.

If it was under $200, yes maybe it would be worth it. But $500 for the stripped-down base model? That's too much for a limited toy.

Apple isn't exactly perfect, ya know. ;)

Don't need a link. The iPad will use At&t's network. And ALL phone companies cap their "unlimited" data plans at 5G. They won't be changing this for Apple or anyone else. It would cost them an arm and a leg.

Here's what should have happened:
  • Apple doesn't overhype their new product.
  • Apple announces the new iPod Touch XL. :|
  • Apple announces a new MacBook with a multitouch screen and a slide-out keyboard that runs Snow Leopard.

For only $2500! :P

Could do that myself for $200 lol.
Do it!

I don't use mac. Too expensive. Mac is good stuff, but way overpriced, if you can find a mac used for a good price, then it's good.

But money is a big issue for me, so ummm...

Would if I could but I can't so I won't.

Ahh you edited! I found this via google

macrumors wrote:its technically unlimited, but ATT watches your trends
EDIT: Never mind. AT&T has a "soft cap", and can throttle you or cut you off.

 I was typing at the same time I was talking to them so I had to keep editing. He told me yes there's a cap, but then he kept reading and found that Phones have unlimited free. Computers connected to the AT&T 3G broadband are unlimited, but only 5 GB are free, they charge you data rates after that. I wonder which category the iPad will fall under.

And tethering is limited to 5 GB right?

Oh, the HP Mini 311 does run XP, I was talking about the iPad.
Lol, didn't realize how unclear I was until I read it.

But my HP Mini 311 can be OC'd to 2.2GhZ and run TF2 All Low Settings in DX8 Mode.
Sure, it isn't a gaming computer, but relative to other netbooks, this female of the dog species is bad.
There is even a way to used Hacked Drivers to use the Full ION instead of just the ION LE (Which is underclocked to save power) and use DX10 on it.

IMHO, it is the best netbook on the market for it's price.

See that's the catch. They say unlimited but do a search on anyone who has gone over the 5g "cap". There are horror stories for ALL networks not just AT&T. Droid is supposed to be unlimitedon Verizon as is others on other networks. But if you go over they hit you.

Now Apple releases the Ipad which has a lot more capabilities online and a chance for people to go way over the 5g cap. You think they will allow it? I doubt it.
