well, relocating the cart slot has not remedied the situation... The light still turns on , but the tv I connected it to is blank... any ideas on how to fix it?(the tv is not busted and the game is not fried...)

w8 looks like you connected them to the middle pins. they should be tothe outer pins!(easy fix = connect them with little jumper wires)

Um...i thought the cart slot wires going to the N64 motherboard were supposed to go to the OUTSIDE row of pins. You have them attached to the inside row in your pictures....

EDIT: Crap...you beat me to it

no wonder, I can fix that! I thought they went into the inside pins because the original cart slot went into those, but I guess thats how the expansion slot is connected to the cart slot... I will fix that immediately! to outside!

DANGIT, the led is not lighting up, so I think it is fried :( . it is a sad moment... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( why did it die so young?*sniffle*
well, I guess I have to get a new one... ( and do a better job of removing excess solder on the surface mount chips...)
putting things aside... I got a dremel kit at lowes using my $50 gift card... and the portable electric grill, so I can vacuum for my case tomorrow

The LED is connected directly to the 3.3v power source through just a resistor (if I remember correctly) so if it's not turning on, it's probably a problem with the power source. Check that to make sure it's getting power.

well, I got rid of all things that look like shorts... does the flux inside solder short things out, or is it not conductive?
note about my case... I can't use my newly bought portable electric grill until Friday because my dad has to "supervise" me. sigh...
