Spambots and You

I have a question about spambots. Is it illegal for those places to send out spambots? If so, we should hunt them down and beat them to pulps with Wiimotes.

No, it is perfectly legal for them to do so. They are not being malicious (in the sense of destruction), just annoying.

Darn, I was hoping we could beat them, then I'd have reason to get a Wii.

Well from what I see we only get about 50 or so on average. That's not to say it's anymore annoying to have to get delete the account and then the the posts/threads they make.

Currently we are working to see if it's possible to ban the spam bots based on the email addresses they use. This might take some trial and error work so be patient. We're not sure if this can be a possible solution or if it's a waste of time, but rest assured we are working to stop or at least curb the number of bots.

Best way for you guys to know if it's a spam bot, see if it's got an ICQ IM icon, and before you think of posting a reply stating the obvious to all, it's not necessary. If you see this spam bot posting in several forum you can contact one of the mods and bring it to our attention.

Help us remove them sooner by ignoring their messages and informing the mods, don't just waste time replying to something that is dumber then a rock.

Take a look at the memberlist.

How many of these people have posted in the last 60 days?

(This doesn't correlate to spambots, but cuts down on members.)
