Master of Portables wrote:I have got to confirm this, when I put the plastic in the oven, do I really set it to 450 Fahrenheit to heat up the plastic. The heat gun I bought screwed up half of my plastic supply, and I need to save one piece for the back, so I have 3 pieces left, and need to be very cautious to conserve plastic, oh yeah, and does anyone have tips for not messing up the plastic when vacuum forming?
No, mine started sagging a lot at 350 degrees. 200 degrees is too low from prior experience.

well, I got a 3 horse power shop vac. Finally! anyway, I am thinking at starting at 250 degrees first, and if it doesn't sag I'll try 300. my mom won't let me use the oven today since she is using it, but maybe Monday or Tuesday.

ok, in the moments of my only free time to get on here, here is my status,
I really have been able to do nothing since my case is not made, as my parents still are not letting me use the oven or grill, and they want me to see if anyone can do the vacuum forming for me, but I would only resort to that if I have no other options. I got a 3 horse power shop vac so that might help, I have a brand new desoldering iron tip  and I have torn apart a N64 power supply, wondering if I could use the inductor in it. the sad part is that all was done on the weekend, since I have no time to do anything during the week

heh that's the same with me, I never have time during the week to do anything, especially with school work piling up now. The mould and design look great, I can't wait to see you vac-form the case!

well, an update thing. I believe I have found a grill that will meet my price requirements, for $30. I believe it is called a uniflame portable electric grill... and I will get a lot of work done next week(hopefully) since next week is spring break! yay. anyway, I am thinking of changing my mind of buying nimh batteries to buying lipo batteries... has anyone got any suggestions of sites that sell lipo batteries suited for a n64 portable, with the protection circuit and smart charger?

Good luck with that. Spring break should be a progressive week.

As for the batteries, http://www.google.com

nooo! froogle :D ! anyway, thanks for the site, I have a bump in my way of getting the game cube analog stick hole big enough to fit the thing, and make it move enough to reach the pcboard... in a smooth manner. If anyone has used the analog stick like that, what is the diameter of the circle that the analog stick pokes out?

well mostly school has been a problem with progress... but I got some good news and bad news, I desoldered the extra slot that is behind the cart slot , and now the system won't run games, I thing it has to do with the cart slot not touching the contacts properly, since the red led still runs indicating the system is not fried... I did all the steps in the trouble shooting N64 sticky, no avail. I ran the power supply and av jack through my own N64, they worked fine, an the game I used wasn't fried... So my guess is that I have to relocate the cart slot now to ensure it is not screwed up... I hope to get a portable electric grill so I can make my case this week  , and I am still looking around for a dc-dc converter...(TI is not liking me as every time I get on, the thing is out of stock :( ) I will post pics when I get my case made...

Once you desolder the expansion slot, you have to relocate the cart slot because w/o the expansion slot, the cart slot is no longer in contact with the pins on the motherboard.

In Short, relocate the cartslot to the pins where the expansion slot pins are. If that doesn't make sense, let me know and ill find a picture to describe what im saying.

that was what I was thinking, yay I feel relieved my N64 isn't dead! I will do that tomorrow, since I was screwing withe the crappy Visual C++ express edition that can't run a win32 app for beans... sigh the crappyness of compilers these days... anyway, I probably will go to lowes and use my $50 gift card I got for my birthday to buy a dremel and or a new soldering iron(mine has seen better days, and buy the electric grill so I can make my case
