They've gotten one step more evil with the bumping of older threads with their spam. I like SpongeBuell's idea. But, if there is only one question/answer, wouldn't all the spammer's owner have to do is tell them to put a "4" in that box every time? Assuming he himself set them on this forum in the first place (and not randomly)? I'd prefer the random math problem, dealing with plus or minus, and only single digits. Any real person can answer so simple a question like those instantly.

if it was done by an actual person, they could set up a script that would check the page pretty easily. I don't think they'd bother with that, though. Usually they just scan around for forums and are on their way when they find one.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

A question: Why not delete the threads instead of just locking them? Or at least edit out the links to spoil a bit of their fun?

Most are deleted. Only time they're locked is if something else takes place (like a user posting in them and a mod giving them a notice)

Like gannon said, most are deleted. If we locked all of them, there'd be at least 10 on each page. ~_~

if a spambot posts in a topic and you reply it creates another spambot right? so then why havent they posted in stickies, thus destroying the sticky?

Because they're not human. They're mindless, and wouldn't think of posting in one.

So what do we do about a thread that had a spambot post in it?
92% of teens have moved on to rap.
If you are part of the 8% who still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your signature.

If it made a new thread, you do nothing.
If it posted in an existing thread, just ignore it and you can keep posting in that thread. (right?)

Ignore it.
Moderators can delete individual posts, so if a spambot posts in an existing thread you don't have to worry about the whole thing being destroyed.

Too many...
Actually, I think it's about 3-5, but that's just a rough guess.
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

How many of those are in Forum 42 alone?
