The post count method will just make people spam. Please don't even consider it.
Warranty-Voiding fun!

Meh, you raise a good point. Alright then, I guess we'll just wait to hear what marshallh has to say about it. Maybe we could do a drawing or something like that. ATM, we have 1306 members on the boards. Maybe marshallh can just write up a little program to generate 20 random numbers between 1 and 1306, sort the members by total posts, or join date... (one of those things) on the member list, and whatever numbers get drawn, he puts those people in the game. Of course, chances are not all 20 randomly chosen people will have pictures and descriptions of behaviors readily available, but they can be easily weeded out.

But then again, even that method can be full of problems... so maybe we should just put ONLY the people that helped out in the game, (plus mods and/or anyone marshallh wants in there... it's his game, after all...) and no top 20.

Hmm...

Or we can just continue to brain-storm.

Well, remember to weed out the trolls, spammers, banned members, and whatnot...

What I think we should do is make a few "generic" body models, and make up instructions on how to make your own skins for them. Sort of like The Sims. That way we can make our own skins, and maybe post expansion packs containing libraries of skins.

Sound reasonable?

Hmm... so basically what I said, (mods) but you do them yourself instead of marshallh having to do them? *thinks for a moment* Sounds good to me. :) Only problem, is that it might be a bit difficult to pull off. Many people will want to be in the game, but probably only about 2% of them will have the knowledge to "mod themselves into the game." ... Wait-a-minute... How hard do you think it would be to implement a "Create a Character" mode into the game, marshallh? That would make everyone happy, so long as you made the GUI easy enough to navigate.

Hard but possible. I'm going to have to write a GUI anyway, might as well throw that in...

Why not instead of having a create a character you just have unlockable skins? I'm sure it's been mentioned more than twice in this thread already. And I wouldn't think it would be hard at all.

Because then he has to program in the "unlockable" skins anyway. If he were to to that, why wouldn't he just program all of us in there to begin with? It's just as much work. What we're trying to do here, is lighten his workload.

... :? I don't get it... at all. In fact, if you weren't Luc with 2591 posts and Mr. Period as your avatar, (friggin' AWESOME btw) I'd call you a noob spammer.

Nice guy translation: I'm sorry sir, I don't understand your statement. Can you please rephrase?

Instead of coming up with some "fair" random way to choose who's in the game, just let someone (Luc) choose. He knows who deserves to be in the game and who would fit with the storyline. With over 1300 members, if we randomly pick 20, most of them we probably haven't even heard of. Just let Luc decide who's in the game. Hopefully people will stop begging to be in the game too...

The idea of letting people "mod themselves into the game" is great. Don't make marshall do a ton of extra work to put you in the game. Maybe if people who wanted to be in it sent completed player models to him, he could set it up so that it randomly picks some of them as civillians/extras. I have no idea how that would work and if it's too much trouble or not...

Bottom line: Let Luc decide who has contributed the most to the forum.*

*we all know who that is...

@Joe: Yeah, that was my plan...I am offering for people who want to be extras, but that is it...

And there was a disscussion before that this thread wouldn't surpass gamey's as the longest thread, but methinks it shall!
