N64 Laptop

Ok.. my screen arrived, it looks great, and seems perfect for what I needed. Instead of having my batteries add up to 7.4v, should I have them be 12v?

How do I relocate the expansion pack? It looks insane, but I know you need to do it to make a good portable... Desolder it, but then it looks like there are two rows of pins to solder, it just looks confusing.

How can you say that! If it's a problem of it sticking up, there are many things you could do... Put your cartridge slot in front of it. With heatsinks underneath it, the slot is the same height as the exp. pak. FYI the L64 doesn't have a relocation and it is the reason why many people first come to this site (such as me).

Not quite sure what you are saying, but the L64 is pretty thick. My laptop can't be that thick so I need the expansion pack as flat as possible, so I will have to relocate it. Pretty sure.

I agree..that is a great case but a little to thick id recommend cutting that thickness maybe in half it actually reminds me of ben's wii laptop. But where would you even put the cart slot on that thing?

Well as I said I plan on thinning it, and yes I think I can get the bottom section about half of that. I plan on putting the cart slot on the back (kind of like a ds I think).

Well r u going to have the 4 ports...or have the buttons on it? Or both?

4 ports. I've updated my mock-up, and I'll post pictures soon.

I slimmed the mock up down, and added places where I would like to put controller ports, a charging port, the cartridge slot, a logo on the back and the power button.

Leave the expansion pac un-relocated, and put the cart slot right up against it facing flat on the motherboard, no need to relocate the pak.

Slightly confused here. Leave the expansion pack sticking up (which is like an inch of space being taken up), and put the cart slot on top of the heatsinks facing like it was on the mock up?

Ok well that's what I thought you said. I suppose I would have to put the battery pack on the right and left of the cartridge slot, instead of putting it under the mobo like I wanted to. (I plan on putting half the battery on one side, and half on the other. You can do that with a li ion battery right? I wanted to basically put half the cells on one side and half on the other. Plausible?

Yes, you can do that, but I wouldn't trust that battery, it looks wayyyyy too small to be that high a capacity. WAYYYYYYYY too small.

Do you have much of a limitation on money? I'll tell you this straight up, you will not be able to fit a 12 V 10000 mAh battery in your portable, the one you linked is absolutely phony.

However, if you have a little extra to spend and want to get as much battery life as possible, go for LiPo batteries. You can get some on batteryspace and a pcb and charger for them.

Lipos are flat whereas li ions are cylindrical, and this is a much better use of space.

I bought that battery from a different seller. . It is about a 1200 maH battery. Ran my Gamecube for around an hour.

Left some scathing negative feedback for sure.
