but I do have to at least say that I like eurddrue. ban him for doing things that are against the rules as consequence, but he's still fun to associate with, in my opinion.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

eurddrue has done some pretty crappy things, like once a new member joined, and before that member did anything, eurddrue called him a spammer.
Re: What's Going on Here?
Not to take sides, but it is the internet. If someone makes fun of you on the internet, big deal, it's not like ruining your reputation with people you associate with at school or work.snowpenguin wrote:eurddrue has done some pretty crappy things, like once a new member joined, and before that member did anything, eurddrue called him a spammer.
I don't tease 'cause I know people can get their feelings hurt pretty easily (taking stuff too seriously), but I can take quite a lot of teasing, too. I understand if you get ganged up on by several members and its on a daily basis, but you gotta understand, everybody jokes and joshes a little bit. Even Euddrue calls himself a douche!
Granted, I didn't get messed with like that when I first joined, (and I'd probably have a different opinion if that was how I was welcomed), but what it boils down to is who cares? I think if anybody ever said stop, it'd stop. And if it didn't, then let moderation do something about it.
EDIT: Could we please revert back to the youtube embed? I think it's a good change. Kudos for embed youtube videos!
EDIT2: OMG wrong thread!

If you're getting 404'd when trying to use the links in stickies, try this tutorial to find that juicy info.

You make some good points, but just because you can't take the internet personally doesn't mean you're supposed to accept being treated badly in it.

I don't have any problems. But just because somebody doesn't know you well when they call you a dick doesn't mean they have any right.

Re: What's Going on Here?
This whole Mod-Retro/Benheck thing is completely ridiculous. Most people aren't making that big a deal of it, as they shouldn't, because it's the internet. For any interest point of anything (sports, games, pets, social networking) there are a plethora of different places to visit, and console modding or whatever the hell we do here is no different. No one cares what site you visit or what your opinion of either one is. Both sites are good, everyone that is on Benheck knows about Mod-Retro. Everyone that is on Mod-Retro knows about Benheck. Use one, use both, it doesn't matter just shut the hell up about site feuds.
Regarding Kyle (eagle) only being a mod cause he went to MGC there is probably a microscopic part of truth to that (1%, if even that much). A position needed to be to filled, his knowledge and posting ability is apt, and seemly got along with everyone here previous to the beginning of his moderation tenure. If it were up to you, wouldn't you rather chose someone you "know personally?"

I know snowpenguin (that's weird to say when you're typing a message haha). But the fact that eurrdue or whatever it is (no offense to him I'm just too lazy to look up the name) but he needs to calm down along with everyone else who has a problem with ANYONE on here. It doesn't matter what they said just get over it. Don't secretly hate people and talk smack about them. You have no right to.

Re: What's Going on Here?
Yep, there was a big topic that was made for that purpose. In it, I got personally attacked by the moderators after saying nothing provoking, which I was careful to do, and quite a few of the things that were said in the thread were point blank lies, regarding the profitability of the forums, actions they accused me of, and other things. I took the time to respond to each person, and more problems were put out there than were solved. Then, I spent a very, very long time writing what I believe to be the longest post on this forum of all time (no joke), and was consequently ignored for the rest of the thread by the mods, and the thread was then locked and sunk into oblivion, despite my pointing out of how they had really addressed nothing.Skyone wrote: It's getting kind of old, as we've had quite a few topics about this. In fact, there was one major topic that was just supposed to shut everyone up (this forum and that forum) about the issue and move on.
So perhaps if you guys had actually settled all the issues flying around rather than locking and burying the topic, people would stop complaining. And my complaints were not the trivial bits of personal aggression that Drue was throwing about; All I wanted was some sort of acknowledgment of the issues I had brought up, not the least of which was an administrator vandalizing my account for personal reasons, and then denying it. Want me to link to the topic? You COULD unlock it, and we could settle things in a civilized manner, but somehow, I doubt that will happen
As for your excuse that you were unable to implement many requests because you had no FTP access: Fine, fair enough. But even if there is an excuse for your inaction, it is still a reason to move. When ModRetro was made, Spongey had FTP access for a while, and no significant changes had been made. Now you guys are fixing some stuff and adding things like youtube embedding, that is awesome, glad that has been fixed.
Now, to personally address Bino Gas's question: ModRetro was made in a time when feature requests were going ignored, the "reference section" was being pushed despite the fact that almost nobody wanted it, and there had been a recent rash of, as Skyone puts it "Drama" (Which I thought was kind of stupid, to be honest). Not to mention the fact that BenHeck had very little traffic, with a marked lack of actual completed projects, despite it being summertime, and some people were genuinely worried. And then, you have the forums going down several times with no explanation, and while it was only several hours at a time, you start to worry when the forum you are on is having issues, and the person who admins and pays for it shows little to no interest in it; That is a classic recipe for disaster.
Pile these and other little issues together, and you have the creation of ModRetro on your hands. To be totally honest, I like the majority of the moderators and admins here, and ModRetro is more of an experiment than anything else. Some people are leaving here because they have personal issues with the mods, some leave because BenHeck forums are filled with n00bs, some because there is not much of worth going on, some for the chance to give input to a new forum and actually have an impact, and others simply because they want to be hip rebels (Sorry guys, search your feelings, you know it to be true). But a big reason people are leaving is because of the "AdShare" scheme I dreamed up. Basically, when you post a completed project or tutorial on ModRetro, you get half of the ad revenue generated by it. We are still getting the system set up, but so far, we have only had 2 small ads on the site for 3 days, and there is already just over $10 sitting in the adshare account ready to be split up at the end of august. Considering that we have only had about 30,000 views in the past 3 days, that amount stands to be quite a bit higher by the end of August, by which the AdShare system should be worked out completely. This stands in stark contrast to here, where every penny goes into the pocket of Ben himself. In addition, we are setting up a wiki and a news site that will be fed content by the members, with the money going to them for that, too. Also, we have an official ModRetro Skype chatroom, which I am working on fully integrating into the forums.
And before the mods try and pull the "We are not psychic, you need to tell us what you want" routine again, I would like to say that every single thing that I am implementing on ModRetro was suggested to at least a few mods/admins by myself and/or other people, and all of the ideas were shot down, especially the idea of splitting the ad revenue with the people actually sustaining this website.
Any other questions? I am totally willing to deal with anything you have to ask (unlike some people here...)

Excellent

Re: What's Going on Here?
This needs to be said now, and in smiley form is not enough.

One is for each site, you've both got flaws, and I'm copulate tired of it.
I'm not going to dignify anyone with my time by pointing out what you already know needs fixing.
I'm disappointed in both sites, both have let me down on more than one occasion.
Now I didn't read his post, and I'm not saying I agree with everything he's ever said, but one thing came to mind that I can say I am with him 100% on:

I doubt he is losing money. If anyone can actually pull numbers, then I will gladly change my stance. Until then, I call BS.gamemasterAS wrote:palmertech wrote:ad revenue![]()

Ben's main site takes up the vast majority of the traffic, being flooded with 360 seekers. Not to mention all the images he has to host! In comparison, almost everything run through these forums is in the form of text and basic web pages, with all the photos hosted off-site.
And I am all for no drama, but I don't think that simply saying that "they know what needs fixing" will actually get them to fix it.

Re: What's Going on Here?
I'd like to see that thread you talked about Palmer. Could you link for me? Or, if the mods still want it buried, it could be PM'd to me. I just want to read up on this.
Re: What's Going on Here?
Where do you go about saying this? So you're going with guilty unless proven innocent? Anyway, I spoke to Ben while making the showcase, and we got to talking about this whole situation, and even his ad revenue. It helps, but it doesn't completely pay for the dedicated server he's running.palmertech wrote:I doubt he is losing money. If anyone can actually pull numbers, then I will gladly change my stance. Anyway, we've been over the same tracks a million times, and I can't believe we're taking the time to address each other just as we have before. No one is going to change the way the other feels. Bitter is bitter. Our words apparently fall on deaf ears.

I'm trying to recall the number of times you and I have actually said anything directly to one another. Maybe less than five times? I apologize if you got the impression that I hate you. I do not hate anyone on these forums.eurddrue wrote:Life of Brian-hates me, no getting around that one either. Of course you guys don't realize it, it's the subtle hints and PM's... It actually started when he became a mod.
Edit: I checked my sent messages and since August of 2008 you and I have sent three PMs to each other. I'm trying to understand where you got that impression.
