You're buying the game anyway... I've never seen an "online play" fee on a PC game, and they're generally cheaper than console games (especially through steam). So thats the worst reason not to say pc > console.
I don't really care which I play on. I'm kinda split on FPS games, I like the mouse but dislike the keyboard (probably lack of practice, so I get lost). RTS is only playable on PC, I wouldn't even consider an RTS on a console. I like racing games better on consoles, especially both xboxes, nice triggers for gas and brake.

"Indirectly"? What do you mean?

Buying the game? You have to do that on consoles, too.

Paying for broadband? You have to do that on consoles, too.

Using electricity? You have to do that on consoles, too.

;) :P

This thread is making my current decision after selling my old rig so hard. I can either buy a laptop/cheaper desktop and a 360/PS3, or build an epic gaming rig all over again.

Or, I could keep the money, use a P4 laptop, and play games on my wii.

Any thoughts? The PS3 looks cool, but I do not know many people with one... And, the 360 allows for use of backups. :?

Build an Epic Gaming Rig because the PC allows for the use of backups too!

Or get a Xbox 360, because it's better than a PS3.

Get a better PC, not a PC and console. That's just a waste of money.

A usable PC doesn't have to cost much of anything if you build it out of used parts. A gaming PC will be much more expensive.

Judging from this thread, I think PC gaming is feasible if you already have a powerful PC for engineering/work/rendering and can play only once a week or something.

(In my opinion, I don't want something that sounds like a harrier jet in my room, I don't want a bulky big power supply on the floor, and I don't want something that has a dongle for wifi which you have to buy separately, I don't want a separate purchase for a hard drive, I don't want to pay to play online, I don't want a disc drive that scratches game discs when you jostle the unit and I don't want to play Russian Roulette on picking a unit that won't overheat.)

EDIT: 900th post.

So neither of you come off as being fanboys, what are your opinions based on, specifically?

Personally, I'm a PS3 man (if no one could tell), but that's because I believe the PS3 is a perfect match for my own personal preferences, gaming or otherwise. I have nothing against the Xbox 360 or people who prefer them; I just don't think I'd get as much enjoyment out of one as I would my PS3.

I've always been PC. All the famous gamers, and the hardcore ones, use PCs. Usually really tricked-out, super-fast PCs, but PCs nonetheless. Fata1ty does not play a 360.

No, but Tsquared does.
So do Legit, elamitewarrior, Snipedown, FearItSelf, Hysteria, Karma, the OGREs, StrongSide... I could go on.
