How about, War of The Worlds: Episode II (Based on the H.G. Wells book, not that movie with Tom Cruise).

The Martians re-invade Earth (duh!), but now Earth has developed all types of steampunk style weapons and gadgets. The first half of the game would be set on Earth where you must repulse the invasion, and the second half would take place on Mars with you leading a counter-invasion.

I've been wondering the same thing. Here is the answer, but steampunk weapons seem like there could be a lot of different possibilities, why not just say "Halo-like" or "medieval" and other more specific terms that give us something to compare them to.

My idea is that you are just some random guy, you have a dead end job of a mattress salesman, no girlfriend and live at an appartment building with a bunch of other people. You know the other people and have a decent relationship with them, but our life takes a bad turn.

You have to go to a warehouse to help pick up a shipment of mattresses, but there is nobody there. You take a look inside the warehouse to see no beds, but rather a candle lit area devoid of merchandise. Walking toward the candles, you are struck down.

You wake up in a room with blood and rust on the walls. You find a Tokarev pistol on a table and you go out to try and find a way out of this place.

It has a certain Silent Hill feel to it, but it seems solid.
I like that one. It could be made to be very dark. I like it!

I've always wanted to make a game wit a good plot, but I suck. My thinking is too bound by the laws of science.

Here is my idea.

The entire world is stricken by a plague. This plague is completely foreign, we have never seen anything like it an we have no cure for it. The plague does not kill those effected immediately, but it causes panic and extreme paranoia. The only way to survive is to eat the flash of uninfected people. The uninfected flesh is easier for the plague to eat so it holds them off of the victims body for a short period of time. These people who are infected have no chose but to seek out healthy people for consumption or die.

You take the role of a simple guy who has not been infected. His body is naturally immune to it. The world as we know it is in complete chaos. The infected are going insane and resorting to cannibalism, and the uninfected are panicking because of the insane infected ones. This man who you play as, has the task of survival in this plagued world. There are no soldiers, no aliens, simply real survival in a panicked world.

The fact that your enemies are unfortunate victims of a disease brings up all kinds of moral dilemmas. You will be faced with the question of fighting or running. Your moral choices will effect your advancement through the game. The ultimate goal is to help find a solution to the plague. What that solution is is up to you.
