Let's shed some light, my plan, B-day is 24th Dec. and I'm gonna be prelisting all of it! Well, right now I'm stuck on a processor. Help me get a good one, that's 250 or below, that's powerful and good for games (really good) for lilke high perf. BF: 2 Half Life 2, and more up and coming games...I'm looking to play 1024*1000 BF:2
Thanks guys. Also, maybe a CD/DVD Drive, that plays DVD's of all formats, and burns all formats and same for CD's, like a combo all in one. Thanks so mcuh!

well first off on your list there, the ram sucks and isn't compatable with the motherboard you picked XPC.
Kay so my list now:
hdd(pretty nice deal on this one)

mobo:

Personally I'd go for a coool one, but yeah, this is really all you need.
That is a litle over 1 grand with shipping I think, but if you get any more money, save up for another video card, then you can have SLI gaming, which kicks ass, and then I'd also get a sound card:

and a dvd drive:

I feel like I'm forgetting something there, but yeah, that will kick ass man.
edit: remembered what I forgot, HEATSINK! lol, got to have a good one to OC good, so here you go:

I've just seen a computer that has power (Unlimited Power!). The new Mac Pro at Apple.com. I'd repleat the specs here but it's just better for you all to read it for yourself, oh and it's on the front of the apple site so it will be easy to find. At the show they debuted the Pro at they compared it's price to an equally equiped Dell, and the Mac was cheaper by nearly $1000.
P.S. Don't make this a stupid Windows vs Mac thread.

I wont make this a mac vs windows thread because, well if you absolutely need a mac then just get that, if you want something to really get your moneys worth, build it yourself. I am building a computer soon, when more motherboards come out for the conroe. Anyways, Ill post my build log then. But seriously, build it yourself, you will feel cool about it too. BTW. Spark, I could make a computer of equal or greater power for 1000$ than that.
Here is what I bought for myself about a week ago, they didn't have the core 2s yet or I probably would've looked at going that route. It's worth noting that I tend to treat my computer as constantly upgradable, so I didn't buy new hard drives or a new copy of any OS, and I didn't actually buy a new case, but I added the one I have as it was a recent purchase
CPU - $187.00 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819103747
Mobo - $94.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813128321
I have always been a fan of Gigabyte boards and this one supports up to 4 ata and 4 sata drives and it also supports nVidia's sli tech
Memory - $89.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145568
This is the first time in a long time that I've actually bothered to buy new memory with a new mobo, but this board is ddr2 and my old one was ddr.
Video card - $78.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814127213
This is mostly ment to be a temporary solution, I'll buy something better when I have the cash, but this will suffice for now.
Case and PS - $109.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129155
I actually bought this to stuff my old computer into and love the case, it's very easy to use and is very quiet, the 450 watt PS is plenty for my needs.
As far as hard drives go, I've already got nearly 1TB of space in various drives, so no need to buy more for now, I'll just use what I've already got.
And for the OS I'll be running WinXP Pro, already have it, the computer it used to be run on is out of commission so I won't be violating the license

I'm sorry buy you are not going to make a desktop with 4 Intel chips for less then $1000. It's not going to happen, because we can all agree that Intel chips are rather expensive.sam wrote:But seriously, build it yourself, you will feel cool about it too. BTW. As to what you said earlier. Yeah it would be nice to build a computer again. The thing is I don't want to fittle around with a hacked version of OSX86, trying to install it. If I can get a computer that will run OS X, I'll be happy.
And Loup, computer looks like it would be a nice machine. Those AMD chips really appeal to me.
