GBA SP into original case?

I've only played Super Mario World on it, but with the A button so close to the edge, and the high use of the a button in the game, it made my hand very uncomfortable.

you whiners. you complain about the placement of the "a" button on a ds, then happily go play NES with those freaking square things that i hate...
anyhow, ive beat two of the metroid games for GBA on the DS (i think i actaully beat one of them twice), and i had no problems. it was fine. i set the games to use the bottom screen for that classic GBA feel

I already have a GBA with afterburner installed but it just doesn't compare, not even close, to the clarity of the new SP screens.timmeh87 wrote:you could just buy the afterburner kit for a GBA and some rechargable batteries...
I'll just give it a try some time soon and let you all know how it went.

I noticed a huge difference as well on the "New GBA SP with a Brighter Screen!" when I saw it on display at the store. I thought it was just a gimmick to get people to buy all the old GBA SP's since the micro came out, but there is a huge difference between the "old GBA SP" and the New Brighter Screen one.

actually I think it has to do with newer and more responsive LCD technology, the drop in price of lithium ion batteries, and more compact backlighting methods. It's easy to build a portable system that looks good, but the challange comes from keeping it under $150
...and I don't think nintendo thought they'd ever have to actually light a gameboy screen. Though there were those backlit pocket models.

I hate the darkness of the screen on the original GBA, but seein as i agree with ben in that fact that i souldnt have to buy the same hardware twice, and now for a third time i never bought an sp, mind u i have played an sp and it is an improvement, but ive got better things to spend the money on

man this is totaly a good mod, all you need to do is place the mobo backwards in the case and have the carts come out the battry bay. or if your worried about the gbcamera not working right (and i was) put the mobo in upside down and backwards this way you just have to stack the screen on the other side and have the cart in the middle of the screen and mobo, any ways once you get the SP apart you will see that there is tons of ways you can put it back together.scherzo wrote:I already have a GBA with afterburner installed but it just doesn't compare, not even close, to the clarity of the new SP screens.timmeh87 wrote:you could just buy the afterburner kit for a GBA and some rechargable batteries...

Except on the DS you have better controls in which your hands don't cramp, unless you are playing the original GBA inwhich you can't see the screen.soundwave wrote:Playing GBA games on the DS is worse than being whipped.
And it's backlit unlike most SPs which are frontlit. Plus I have dust under my screen which shows easily on a frontlit screen.
