Re: The 64snap! worklog
havent tried bondo but if you do it right (rough surfaces, dont over knead it etc) it works great, it is annoying to sna dhowever as it creates a LOT of funny smelling dust

Re: The 64snap! worklog
ok so I have been doing stacks of casework, this is how it looks at the moment

I will be cutting the screen hole and the start button next once I have had a break to watch some loony toons.

Re: The 64snap! worklog
nice, but seeing as your an super smash bros fan, what are you going to use for the c buttons? tact switches or relocate the board? if you use tact switches you lose the ability to shorthop

Re: The 64snap! worklog
I will relocate the board, it's easier that way

Re: The 64snap! worklog
nice case! how long did it take to cut out the buttons?
Re: The 64snap! worklog
Well to get the button holes like that iI took a n64 controller and chopped out the button sections. I then made a slightly larger hole of the same shape in the case using an old run down old soldering iron (those fumes are awful even with a mask on), dropped them in and shoved knead it/bondo in the cracks and let it harden like a rock. The knead-it only gives you 3 mins to get your piece as centered and flat as possible before it drys and if you don't knead the parts together properly you get Sections that don't harden. You have to be quick annd efficient with the whole process
It was complicated by the fact the n64 controller is all curved, whereas the places i mounted them are flat. I have done a lot of sanding and still there is more to be done to have it perfect.
It took most of today to do up to this point, but I have also done the screen hole this afternoon.
