I too am fond of texting instead of calling with a cell phone. But I have a small phobia of talking on the phone. I'm sure you all know how much I rant about stuff, and little kids texting is one of them, but it's great for organizing stuff.

That being said, I looked around for the cheapest texting plan I could find. The cheapest one that suits my needs is from Solo Mobile / Bell Canada. $15 / mo. for unlimited texting, plus 40 cents per call.

I found the Canadian equivalent of this list:

And went through them all. You might find something decent and cheap from a third party provider. They "rent" the signal of major companies like (in Canada) Rogers or Bell. Don't rule out prepaid, sometimes they can get very plan-like. The above "plan" that I would get if I had enough money for a phone is actually prepaid, 50 cents per day, with a top up required every two and a half months.

Theres a type of blackberry shaped device that you pay like $100 for it, plus $20 a month for unlimited texting, and emails. (No phonecalls, as its NOT a phone.)

It has a color screen, full keyboard, etc.

I forget what its called, but its on engadget somewhere. Its real too, my coworker has one.

Why can't you just talk to people? Are you that scared of them that you have to communicate in a way that removes as much human contact as possible?
Also, on a related note, I am getting a new phone today! Alias, I know its not that origional or cool, but my current phone is the biggest peice of crap, the outside buttons don't work, and the flash stays on as long as the outside screen is on.

I get mine today, Alias 2, weird huh?
