Triton wrote:what i do for structural things is my special mixture of LIQUID ABS plastic, its just shavings of abs disolved in acetone and it doesnt just stick parts together like epoxy does it fuses the seperate peices of plastic in to one single piece making it MUCH more structurally sound and solid than epoxy would. bondo is only used for cosmetics (smoothing shaping etc) and i use bondo spot putty
You do know that Abs Cement is basically liquid plastic and will do the same thing.

In fact this guy has an awesome Dash install using it :

yep! but for 5$ you can get a big ole can of acetone and since 99.9% of console, controller, lcd and pretty much every other peice of electronics shell is made of abs there is an INFINITE supply of abs shavings especially if you use a dremel

Hmm I bought a pretty darn big can of Black ABS cement for around $5 at Lowes and it works pretty darn good :)

But DIY is awesome also. :)

Epoxy is nice but it doesn't do what ABS Cement does.

ABS Cement actually melts into the plastic FUSING the two pieces together PERMANENTLY .

The after you do that, use Epoxy as filler :)

Yes, a few times I found that out to my detriment. Tried to take back apart a Psone screen that was Abs Cemented to a case I was working on. Tried pulling it apart and it was fused and impossible to rip apart. Had to dremel it and almost ruined it.

But with any epoxy I have used I could wiggle it back and forth a lot I could break it loose.

Oh, yeah. A trick I learned with epoxy is that is it pops off after you mold it to something, it seems to work quite well with superglue.
