No, he's saying that the GBA needed sunlight to be able to play itjperryss wrote:You're thinking of Boktai, methinks.siegeshot wrote:I really liked Circle of the Moon. It was my first advance game and the irony itself that you needed the power of the sun to light the advance, and it was called Circle of the Moon, yea..

Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

After finally beating Harmony (bought it 3 years ago) on the DS I popped it into the old GBA. MAN it looks like utter crap! What a waste.
Some of you might recall my "disenfranchisement" with Nintendo began with the non-backlit GBA. Looking back now it seems dumber than ever that it didn't have a light. 2001 wasn't exactly the Stone Age, I'm sure they could have done it. Besides, they broke the $100 barrier of Gameboy prices with the DS as it is.

Maybe they just wanted to get kiddies outside. With direct sunlight the screen was very bright!
Another weird thing, was that the SP and the 1st gen DS could not play under direct sunlight, but the original GBA could, and now the 2nd gen DS can again. (Don't know about the micro)
So while the GBA could not be played indoors without a 3rd party light, it could be played in the sun...
I think it was a scheme to get kids to go outside... it was rolled out during the summer ya know. Nintendo is a smart bunch.
The original gameboys though.. not a good idea to play those outdoors, the lcd's melted in a few hours right?

I finished CotM, and got about halfway through Harmony. After leaving it sit while i played through Dawn of Sorrow, im completly lost in Harmony. I think i'll just restart the game. Maybe not, since Portrait of Ruin comes out in a few days.. URGH.
Am i the only one who loves the whole either-direction dash maneuver in Harmony? I think its cool, and adds a little twist to the gameplay.

Loved the dash in either direction, sometimes I'd get bored and dash through the game backwards.
All of those big games need maps, otherwise you have to memorize the whole darn map thing. Like Metroid 2 on the gameboy.
Some of the Castlevanias have maps, most of them don't. Ingame maps I mean. Thankfully on the DS they have added maps to most of the games.

I'd say the best was the saturn Dracula X. The colors weren't up to what saturn could handle but the Saturn version of SOTN featured a choice between 3 main characters right from the start, each with a very different path through the game. (playstation version had no playable maria) Music was also a bit remixed.
It's a shame it was a playstation port, if it were designed for saturn first it would have had no problems, and looked considerably better. even worse the title never made it to this country, and the import versions (while plentiful) were also very expensive.
I've never played rondo of blood though. Mainly because I lack the hardware.
