2 more questions
1. Could I run 2 12v 2.6Ah batteries to the 7805 thing and it still be fine, and then would all else I need be the 3.3v line?
2. COuld I just put something onto the 2 12v to regulate it down to 3.3 volt and run that to the N64??

good, thats what I thought, my father mentioned maybe a " zeener " ( << spelling ) diode , but o well, I wait till I get to that part
another question Ive had
1. Is there any advantage to bypassing the 7805 and using smaller batteries If I already have a 12v 2.6aH battery and dont mind using it?
thx for answering these noob questions, but I figured this is where to ask because I couldnt find it all by searching ( actually, I proboly could have , but thats what this thread's for )

Yes the lest waste you have in the circuit the more you'll have to run the portable. Think of it this why the electricity is like a car on the road, a 7805 will require the car to burn more gas to pass it by (like going up a steep hill), but if you have a lower drop (like an LDO) less power is wasted.

hi all. i have a couple questions.
1. is it okay to run the n64's 3.3v line from a separate battery pack as the 12v one?
2. if so, is it okay to wire the grounds from the 3.3v and the 12v one together?
3. i have some rechargeable AA nimh batteries that im trying to run it from. they are only 1.2v. all 8 of them toghether are only about 10.3 volts. will this cause problems? (it probably would)

Waiting for my 5 inch gamecube screen to finish up my N64p!
1. Yes you can.
2. Yes you can.
3. For the 12v line you can put in 7.2v (6 batteries), then get another battery to put together with the last two to for 3.6v. I will tell you that the 3.3v line draws more amps then the 12v and so the run time you'll have for the board will only be about an hour until the batteries need to be recharged/replaced.
