Okay guys, I have a few questions for ya (don't forget to include "What is" before your answer  )

Would the case look better without painting the HG case (leaving it black and still having the Volume, Brightness, Contrast, etc labels) and just paint the VHS case satin black to match it?
OR
Would the entire thing look better painted a custom color? (the volume, brightness, etc labels would be painted over.)

Also, if I do paint it, what would be a good color? I was thinking metallic blue or maybe that color shifting paint that I've been itching to try out...

you should have a variety of possible colors to select from like say silver, blue, red, black

it's kinda hard to decide on a good color if i don't know what it'll look like. you have any concept pics?

Good point. I'll throw together a drawing in paint tomorrow.
I would take a pic since it's about 1/3 done but I still have no camera. Thankfully my mom said that if I checked a bunch of reviews and made sure it's a good camera, she will buy one for me :D Yeah! I never thought I would say this, but mom, you rock! (she'll never see it anyways)

Clear VHS tape cases would be cool, then everyone could critique your soldering. :)

That's a good idea, thanks. I will keep that in mind.

I drew it this up real quick since I don't really care for concepts. (And technically it is tomorrow, at least where I live)

It's a bitmap so you can paste new colors into it and see how they look. So throw your ideas my way :)

Very cool! I like the cart slot placement and the folding screen. Nicely planned. :)

looks like the GBASP layout, maybe you could copy a good color/design from a GBASP you think looks good

G-Force, are you sure a N64 mobo will fit in the VHS case? Don't want to rain on everybody's parade but don't want yu to start making a design if it's not going to fit. Good luck on your N64s G-Force. :D

I think he may have you there, but I haven't tested the size of a VHS case. Just a sec…ouch. Yeah, sorry to ruin the idea, but you'd have to cut off a lot of the board to get it to fit, including the controller connections. This doesn't necessarily destroy your plans, but it does make them harder. You'll have to solder the controller to the caps on the board.

Guys, guys, guys... It's me :) Of course I made sure it fits before I set this up. Several traces had to be cut, but it's fairly easy to recconect them. The cutting and rewiring of the cut traces only adds maybe 15-20 minutes onto the build time.

Bought some paint, heatsinks, blue paint, and glue today. It's coming along great. I'm estimating it will be done by at least sunday next week.

sounds good :)....of course, now I'm a bit less motivated to do my semi-mass produced N64p.....oh well :P
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!
