computer monitor? You would have to find the red, green, and blue points on the DVD player motherboard, if they are even there, as well as sync. Then, you'd have to convert the sync frequency to one the monitor can handle. In other words, you can't

Well, it's not cheap (or space conservative), but there are component to VGA convertors that you could use. Why don't you just get a DVD drive? They're dirt cheap now that people have dual-layer burners.
Also, all G5s and Minis have DVD drives built-in, you have to get them custom-built for them not to.
