Well, I've been working on my vacuume form today, and it was quite annoying. I don't have a drill press, so it was pretty hard to drill the 195 holes in the cookie sheet. Anyways, I'll be able to finnish everything except wiring a heating element in tomorrow. I'll be brushing the entire frame to make it look better also.
I'm thinking of heading to the local junkyard to look for a heating element. I'm pretty sure that if I find an old electric stove its gotta have at least one working element on it.

If your looking for just about any heating element you can look at an electric space heater. It'd be a something to remember if you cant find the item you want.

Yeah, I'll try and put some pictures up soon. I especially want to put some pictures that show the difference between the brushed and unbrushed metal.
For the main design, I'm using Kahn's scrap part idea, but I'm making it out of only metal. The only parts I actually need to buy is some metal sheets to cover the sides.

hmm... I didn't get much done this week, but I'm almost done with the frame, and tomorrow I'll be working on sealing the air-tight area.
I bought 3 1Kw 12" heating elements for $3.50 after shipping a few days ago, and I should get them in a few days. Then I'll be able to wire the system together.
Oh, yeah, if you're looking for a cheap online source for clay, this place is great.
I'd use this clay. I would rather get the marblex, but it might not be able to hold up well under the wet plaster.

I'm finally done with the form, although I need to do a little work on the frame that holds the plastic while it's heating.
My design was harder than Ralis Kahn's, but that's because I had different parts laying around. All around though it only cost me $6 to build. That was the price for the heating elements and some bolts. It's one of my cheapest projects yet, but it took me around 15 hours total to build. If I had the right tools it probably could've been done less than 5 hours.

gaaaa!!! if I try to use that much sheet metal on mine I will die from blood loss after slicing myself in many places.

Yeah, I only cut myself a few times though. Now that I think about it I probably should've used some gloves when I was working on it.
