if you ae using a regular NES, like me, you can probe the 5 leads from the "big silver box" thing on the ass-end. The box is an RF Multiplexor, Video Amp, and Voltage Regulator (the good ol' 7805). The NES can take 5V, at i THINK 500ma. You will need to amplify the video signal. Use a simple single general use amplifying transistor and a few resistors and you will be fine.
Looking at the component side of the system, and the box at the bottom right corner, the pinouts are as follows
1- video
2- audio
3- +5
I use the big silver plane as ground.
