LED question...not portable related

Post by Niku-Sama »

ok this is for my car...

a lot of the inside lights for the little things are burning out and i want to replace them with LEDs...pluses of that, brighter glow, different colors, dont burn out unless you over volt them...

but the thing it its all tied into the dimmer switch because it technically is a dash light...i was wondering will the LED get brighter and dimmer with the rest of the pannel or will it just go off at one piticular point or will it flash?

i know some LED fans flash when you drop the voltage but i always though it was because there was more than one LED on one voltage rail...(is this true?)

How often do you actually use the dash dimmer? The only time I've EVER used one is to check that the lights actually work.

If I were doing this, I'd bypass the dimmer and put the dome on a switch/pushbutton, with the dash lights being turned on just with the headlights.

I.E. POWER > Headlight switch > Dash Lights
... Headlight switch > Dome switch > Dome light (LED?)

Of course, I'm giving this "advice" while the starter is dead in my eclipse

EDIT: Hmmm, I just realized you're just 4 hours South of me on I-5... Strange.
