Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog
For the eject button, what you could do is build a circuit that waits for the drive open motor to be activated, and then flips the switch that tells the drive it is all of the way open. This could probably be as simple as a relay. This allows a longer time to change the disk when the box is on, however, it also makes it so you can't just put the disk in and wait, but rather you have to make something to tell the box that it's in. ... ... ... Just throwing it out there. If somehow, you don't know what I'm talking about, take the drive and open and close it a few times, watching everything that happens, there should be a leaf switch activated by a peg near the side the tray comes out on.
Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog
Yeah I was thinking about making a litle circuit to do that altough I don't really think it's needed. I mean you have enough time to switch disc's. If you don't want to do so so quick just press eject and put nothing in. The lens will scan for a disc but not find one and will say the tray is open thus doing nothing. Then just put in the game and press eject again and it scan's again and Voila!!
I mean it's quite a simple procedure, you just have to remember it. But thanks for the idea though

Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog
I would suggest removing the disc spindle and mounting one on that has "grips" on it, ala gamecube/ PSone, thus eliminating the need for the magnet part alltogether.
Cheers,

I already made the fliptop with the magnet and it works fine. Maby in my next laptop I'll try to mod the motor top to grip it instead of using the magnet. But we'll see.
It's getting along nicely and the bottem plate is almost done. I'll be posting some new pic's somewhere next week.

Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog
Little update. Baseplate is as good as done as well as the two latches that will cover the disc and controller cutouts. Both lids wil be held by thin magnets and can be opened via the small curve cut out on the bottem sides. Also the disc cover will have a thin layer of plastic on top to make it nice and clean.

Need to discuss the paint job with the buyer but it will be done soon I hope!! Be on the look out for more progress!

The inside where the controller is stored is also going to be painted. Hopefully this project will be done next week. It's looking sweet!! Once done I'll post a video of it in action

Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog Update!!
I know this is a commision and all but why use a pelican case?
Why not build a case?

Wedgix (custom linux distro): 20% complete
Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog Update!!
That's what the commissioner wanted
But this is the last time I'm gogin to use this case as it's a pain to work with. Gonna make my own cases next time.

Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog Update!!
The amount of batteries (and how they much they cost) would be insane. That's why you never see any battery powered 360s.own16 wrote:How much for portable 360 that can be run for a while unplugged just like a laptop?

Re: Pelican XBox 360 laptop Worklog Update!!
Batteries on a xbox360 portable is a def no go. Cost too much and not a realistic battery life. I checked for my new Jtag 360 laptop I'm working on and it's just not worth the money!
Here's a little update. Paintjob is complete! All that's left is the aluminium finish and then it's all done!!!!
Excuus the finger marks
It's going to be polished once everything is installed.
